Indo-Tibetan Border Police
The Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) is a specialized paramilitary force of India responsible for guarding the country's border with Tibet Autonomous Region (China). Established in 1962, its primary duty is to secure the Indo-Tibetan border, prevent infiltration, and combat smuggling and insurgency. ITBP personnel are trained for high-altitude operations, often working in challenging terrains such as mountains and glaciers. They also participate in disaster relief, peacekeeping missions, and maintaining internal security. The force integrates with India’s security framework, ensuring border integrity while supporting national efforts in difficult terrains.
