Indo-Aryan

Indo-Aryan refers to a subgroup of the Indo-Iranian branch of the Indo-European language family. It includes languages spoken primarily in South Asia, such as Hindi, Bengali, Punjabi, Marathi, and Urdu. These languages share common origins and historical development from an ancient language called Sanskrit. The Indo-Aryan languages spread into this region around 1500 BCE through migrations and cultural exchanges. Today, they form the majority linguistic group in countries like India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, and parts of Nepal and Sri Lanka. The term also relates to the people and cultural traditions associated with these languages and their historical development.
