Indigenous Peoples of Venezuela
The Indigenous Peoples of Venezuela are the original inhabitants of the region, with diverse cultures, languages, and traditions. They include groups such as the Wayuu, Pemon, Warao, and Yanomami, each with unique identities and ancestral territories mainly in remote areas like jungle regions and mountain ranges. Despite centuries of colonization and modernization, many Indigenous communities continue to preserve their ways of life, languages, and customs. They play a vital role in Venezuela’s cultural diversity and environmental stewardship. However, they often face challenges like land rights disputes, loss of culture, and limited access to education and healthcare.
