The Indian Institute of Management (IIM) system comprises a group of prestigious business schools in India, established to offer high-quality management education. There are 20 IIMs, with the first one founded in 1961 in Calcutta. They provide postgraduate programs, including the flagship MBA, and various executive education courses. Admission is highly competitive, primarily through the Common Admission Test (CAT). IIMs emphasize rigorous academic training, practical experience, and leadership development.
