Indian independence struggle

The Indian independence struggle was a movement to end British rule in India, driven by the desire for self-rule and national identity. Beginning in the late 19th century, it included protests, civil disobedience, and political activism led by leaders like Mahatma Gandhi, Jawaharlal Nehru, and others. Gandhi promoted nonviolent resistance, such as boycotting British goods and fasting. Over decades, widespread participation and international support grew, culminating in India gaining independence on August 15, 1947. The movement unified diverse groups and marked a significant step toward self-determination and sovereignty for India.
