India Act 1947
The India Act of 1947, also known as the Indian Independence Act, was a law passed by the British Parliament that ended British rule in India. It divided British India into two separate independent nations: India and Pakistan, effective August 15, 1947. The act laid out how both countries would govern themselves, including provisions for transferring power, splitting assets, and addressing issues like princely states. It marked the end of colonial rule in India, leading to the birth of two sovereign nations and ending centuries of British control.
