Independent Power Producers

Independent Power Producers (IPPs) are private companies that generate electricity independently of government-owned utilities. They build and operate power plants—like those for natural gas, wind, or solar energy—and then sell the electricity to the grid or directly to consumers. IPPs help increase competition, improve efficiency, and expand energy options by providing additional sources of power outside of government-controlled utilities. Their involvement can lead to more innovative energy solutions and help meet growing electricity demands while fostering a diverse energy mix.
