Independent filmmaker
An independent filmmaker, often called an "indie" filmmaker, creates movies outside major studio systems. They typically have more creative control, making unique or personal projects without the influence of large production companies. Indie filmmakers often rely on their own funding, grants, or crowdfunding, and they may showcase their films at festivals or independent theaters. While they might have smaller budgets than mainstream films, their work can be innovative and diverse, reflecting personal vision or niche stories. The key distinction is their independence from the big studios that produce most commercial films.
