In situ testicular germ cell neoplasia

In situ testicular germ cell neoplasia (iGCN) is a condition where abnormal cells develop within the testes' germ cell lining but have not yet become invasive cancer. It is considered a precursor to types of testicular cancer, particularly seminomas and non-seminomas. Often found in young men, iGCN usually shows no symptoms but can be detected through testicular biopsies. If left untreated, these abnormal cells may develop into malignant tumors, which can be effectively treated if caught early. Monitoring or removing these cells early offers the best chance to prevent the progression to full-blown cancer.
