In-Memory Database Management Systems
In-Memory Database Management Systems (IMDBMS) store data directly in a computer's main memory (RAM) instead of on traditional disk drives. This allows for much faster data access and processing speeds, making applications responsive in real-time. Because data is stored in RAM, IMDBMS is ideal for tasks requiring quick data retrieval, such as online transactions or analytics. However, this means it can be more expensive and may lead to data loss if power is interrupted, so many systems combine in-memory processing with disk storage for safety and efficiency.
