In-group/Out-group Bias

In-group/out-group bias refers to the tendency for people to favor those they see as part of their own group (in-group) while viewing outsiders (out-group) more negatively. This bias can influence how we perceive, treat, and judge others, often leading to favoritism towards our own group and prejudice against others. It serves a social function by fostering group cohesion, but can also contribute to stereotypes, discrimination, and conflicts when applied without awareness. Recognizing this bias helps us understand our own behaviors and promote fairness and inclusivity.
