In-group/Out-group

In-group and out-group are social concepts describing how people relate to others. An in-group is a group to which someone feels they belong, often sharing common traits like culture, beliefs, or interests. Conversely, an out-group consists of those perceived as different or outside of that group. These distinctions can influence attitudes and behaviors, sometimes leading to favoritism toward the in-group and bias or prejudice against the out-group. Recognizing these dynamics helps us understand social interactions and the importance of fostering inclusivity and reducing bias.
