Impella Device
The Impella device is a small, pump-like medical device used to support the heart in patients with severe heart failure or during certain heart procedures. It is inserted through a blood vessel into the heart’s left ventricle (the main pumping chamber) and helps pump blood to the rest of the body. By assisting the heart's pumping action, the Impella can improve blood flow, reduce the heart's workload, and buy time for recovery or further treatment. It is minimally invasive and typically used in critical care settings or during heart surgery.
