immunological compatibility
Immunological compatibility refers to how well a person's immune system accepts a transplanted organ, tissue, or blood. If the immune system recognizes the transplant as belonging to the body, it usually accepts it; if not, it may attack and reject it. Compatibility depends on matching certain markers called antigens, especially in blood and tissue types, to reduce rejection risk. Proper matching helps ensure the transplant functions well and lasts longer, minimizing immune responses that could harm the new tissue.
