Immunologic synapse
The immunologic synapse is a specialized contact point between a T cell (a type of immune cell) and an infected or abnormal cell. It functions like a communication hub, enabling the T cell to recognize specific threats and deliver targeted responses. When the T cell's receptor binds to an antigen on the infected cell, the synapse forms, organizing signaling molecules and receptors in a precise area. This organized interface ensures effective immune activation, allowing the T cell to release signals or cytotoxic agents precisely where needed, ultimately helping the immune system identify and eliminate harmful cells efficiently.
