Immunoassays

Immunoassays are laboratory tests that use antibodies to detect and measure specific substances in a sample, such as blood or urine. Antibodies are proteins produced by the immune system that can bind to specific targets, like hormones, drugs, or pathogens. In an immunoassay, a sample is mixed with labeled antibodies; if the target substance is present, the antibodies bind to it. The amount of binding can be measured, indicating the level of the target in the sample. Immunoassays are commonly used in medical diagnostics, drug testing, and research to provide accurate and sensitive results.
