Immune surveillance

Immune surveillance is the process by which the immune system continually monitors the body for abnormal cells, such as cancer cells or infected cells. Specialized immune cells, like T-cells, patrol the body and identify cells that behave abnormally or display suspicious markers. When such cells are detected, the immune system can destroy them before they develop into serious health problems. This ongoing surveillance helps protect the body from diseases and cancer by keeping abnormal cells in check and removing them early on.
