Immune response suppression

Immune response suppression occurs when the body’s natural defense system, which fights off infections and diseases, is intentionally weakened or inhibited. This can happen due to medications like immunosuppressants used after organ transplants, certain medical conditions, or specific treatments. When suppressed, the immune cells are less active, making the body less able to recognize and attack harmful pathogens or abnormal cells. While this can prevent excessive immune reactions, it also increases the risk of infections and some cancers because the immune system isn’t functioning at full strength.
