Immune Response in CLL
In chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL), the immune response is often disrupted because the abnormal cancerous B cells accumulate and interfere with normal immune function. These cancer cells can confuse the immune system, making it less effective at fighting infections. Additionally, CLL can impair other immune cells, reducing the body's ability to recognize and attack threat agents like bacteria and viruses. This immune dysfunction increases infection risk and complicates treatment. Overall, CLL causes a weakened immune response, leading to greater vulnerability to illnesses while also complicating immune regulation within the body.
