Immune-Mediated Disorders

Immune-mediated disorders are conditions where the immune system mistakenly attacks the body's own tissues, confusing them for harmful invaders like bacteria or viruses. Normally, the immune system protects us by defending against infections, but in these disorders, it becomes misdirected, leading to inflammation, tissue damage, and symptoms depending on the affected area. Examples include rheumatoid arthritis, where joints are targeted; multiple sclerosis, affecting the nervous system; and autoimmune thyroid disease. These disorders often require medical treatment to manage the immune response and prevent or reduce tissue damage.
