Immune complex diseases
Immune complex diseases occur when the immune system forms clusters of antibodies and antigens (the substances that trigger immune responses). These clusters, called immune complexes, can deposit in various body tissues, leading to inflammation and damage. This can cause conditions like rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, or certain types of kidney diseases. The immune system's response can be inappropriate or prolonged, contributing to tissue injury instead of protection. Essentially, while the immune system is trying to fight off perceived threats, it can inadvertently harm the body, resulting in various health issues.
