Imagism Movement
Imagism was a literary movement from the early 20th century that emphasized clarity, precision, and vivid visual imagery in poetry. Its poets aimed to present sharp, direct images of moments or scenes, stripping away unnecessary words and complex language to capture the essence of a single impression. Inspired by the visual arts, especially Impressionism, imagists focused on concrete details and a straightforward, energetic style. Prominent figures like Ezra Pound and H.D. sought to create poetry that evoked strong mental images, making the reader experience the scene as if they were witnessing it firsthand.
