Image for Image Retention

Image Retention

Image retention is a temporary preview of an image left on a screen after viewing it for an extended period. It occurs when pixels on an OLED or LCD screen retain a faint "ghost" of the previous image due to prolonged exposure. Unlike permanent burn-in, image retention usually fades away over time once the display is turned off or shows different images. It’s similar to a shadow or afterimage temporarily visible, and it often corrects itself, especially with regular use or screen refreshes. Properly managing screen time and using screen savers can help prevent or reduce this effect.
