iliac crest
The iliac crest is the curved, upper edge of the large, wing-shaped bones called iliac bones that make up the pelvis. Located on each side of your lower abdomen, it forms the top border of the pelvis and can be felt as the ridge above your hips. The iliac crest serves as an attachment point for muscles and ligaments, providing support and stability for your hips and lower back. It plays an important role in weight bearing and movement, and is often used as a site for medical procedures like bone marrow tests.
