IgE-mediated response

An IgE-mediated response is a type of allergic reaction where the immune system overreacts to harmless substances like pollen, pet dander, or certain foods. When exposed, the body produces a specific antibody called IgE, which attaches to immune cells. Upon subsequent exposure, these cells release chemicals like histamine, causing symptoms such as sneezing, itching, swelling, or difficulty breathing. This response is part of the body's way of defending against real threats, but in allergies, it mistakenly reacts to harmless substances, leading to allergic symptoms.
