IgE-mediated Allergy

IgE-mediated allergy is an immune system response where the body overreacts to harmless substances, called allergens (like pollen, dust, or certain foods). When exposed, the immune system produces a protein called Immunoglobulin E (IgE) to fight the allergen. This triggers the release of chemicals such as histamine, causing allergy symptoms like sneezing, itching, swelling, or difficulty breathing. These reactions can happen quickly after contact and vary in severity. Essentially, it's the immune system mistakenly identifying a safe substance as a threat, leading to an allergic response.
