IgA Nephropathy
IgA Nephropathy is a kidney condition where the immune system produces too much IgA antibodies, which deposit in the kidneys’ filtering units. This causes inflammation and damage over time, possibly leading to reduced kidney function or kidney failure. It can develop gradually, often with no symptoms early on, but may eventually cause blood in the urine, swelling, and high blood pressure. The exact cause is unknown, but it’s often diagnosed through a kidney biopsy. While there’s no cure, treatments like blood pressure control and medication can help slow progression and preserve kidney function.
