IETF Principles and Procedures
The IETF (Internet Engineering Task Force) develops and promotes voluntary standards for the internet's core technologies. Its principles emphasize transparent, open participation where anyone interested can contribute; consensus-building rather than voting; and reliance on collaborative, experience-based decision-making. Procedures involve written documents called RFCs (Request for Comments) that propose standards, which are reviewed and refined through open discussions. The goal is to ensure the internet remains interoperable, reliable, and scalable by fostering an inclusive process that balances technical innovation with practical needs.
