Ieng Sary
Ieng Sary was a Cambodian politician and a founding member of the Khmer Rouge, a brutal communist regime that ruled Cambodia from 1975 to 1979. As Minister of Foreign Affairs, he played a key role in the regime's policies, which led to the deaths of an estimated two million people through forced labor, starvation, and executions. After the Khmer Rouge's fall, he faced charges of war crimes and crimes against humanity. Ieng Sary was eventually tried by the Cambodian tribunal but died in 2013 before his case concluded. His actions and leadership are widely associated with one of the most tragic periods in Cambodia's history.
