Iemitsu Tokugawa

Iemitsu Tokugawa was the third shogun of Japan’s Tokugawa shogunate, ruling from 1623 to 1651. He played a key role in strengthening Japan’s centralized government, enforcing strict policies to control foreign influence and maintain stability. Iemitsu limited foreign trade, expelled many missionaries, and closed the country to most outsiders, leading to a period of relative peace and isolation known as the Edo period. His reign helped solidify the Tokugawa family's power, shaping Japan’s political and social structure for over two centuries.
