IEDs (Improvised Explosive Devices)
An Improvised Explosive Device (IED) is a homemade bomb constructed and deployed in ways that are unpredictable and unconventional. Typically assembled from ordinary materials like chemicals, electronics, or other components, IEDs are used to cause destruction, injury, or disruption. They can be hidden and detonated remotely or through tripwires, often encountered in conflict zones or areas of insurgency. IEDs pose significant security threats because they are adaptable, inexpensive to produce, and can be designed to target military personnel, civilians, or infrastructure, making them a prevalent tool in asymmetric warfare.
