Idolatry
Idolatry is the act of giving excessive admiration, devotion, or reverence to something or someone other than a core spiritual or moral value, often material objects, ideas, or individuals. It involves prioritizing these objects above one's ethical principles or spiritual beliefs, sometimes leading to a distorted focus that can overshadow more meaningful or divine aspects of life. While traditionally associated with worshiping images or statues, modern forms of idolatry can include obsession with possessions, fame, or certain ideologies. Essentially, it's placing misplaced trust or value in something that should not hold ultimate significance.
