IDES (Integrated Disability Evaluation System)
The Integrated Disability Evaluation System (IDES) is a collaborative process between the Department of Defense and the Department of Veterans Affairs that assesses service members’ medical conditions to determine their eligibility for disability benefits. When a service member is seriously injured or becomes ill, IDES evaluates their symptoms and limitations to decide if they qualify for disability compensation and benefits. The goal is to streamline the process, reduce the time it takes to receive benefits, and ensure that injured service members get appropriate support efficiently.
