Identity conflict
Identity conflict occurs when a person’s sense of who they are feels torn between different roles, values, or expectations. For example, someone might struggle between their career ambitions and family responsibilities, or between cultural traditions and personal beliefs. This internal struggle can cause stress, confusion, or frustration, as they try to reconcile these opposing aspects of themselves. It often arises in situations where competing identities or social pressures challenge an individual’s self-understanding, making it difficult to feel fully consistent or authentic.
