Icelandic Parliament

The Icelandic Parliament, called the Althing, is one of the world's oldest legislative bodies, established in 930 AD. It is a unicameral (single-chamber) parliament responsible for making national laws, approving budgets, and overseeing the government. Members of Parliament (MPs) are elected through proportional representation, representing various political parties. The Althing meets in Reykjavik, and its decisions influence Iceland's policies on economy, environment, and social issues. It operates as a key democratic institution, ensuring government accountability and reflecting the will of the Icelandic people.
