ICD

An Implantable Cardioverter Defibrillator (ICD) is a small medical device implanted under the skin near the heart. It monitors the heart's rhythm continuously and can detect dangerous irregularities, such as very fast or chaotic heartbeats. If it identifies a life-threatening rhythm, the ICD delivers an electrical shock to restore a normal heartbeat, much like an internal defibrillator. It acts as a safety device for people at risk of sudden cardiac arrest, helping prevent potentially fatal events by providing real-time oversight and intervention.
