Icarus (mythology)

In Greek mythology, Icarus is the son of Daedalus, a skilled craftsman. To escape imprisonment, Daedalus created wings made of feathers and wax for himself and Icarus. He warned Icarus not to fly too high, as the sun's heat would melt the wax, or too low, where the sea's dampness could weigh down the feathers. Ignoring advice, Icarus soared too close to the sun, causing his wings to disintegrate. He fell into the sea and drowned. The story symbolizes themes of hubris, limits, and the dangers of overambition.
