ICAO Carbon Offset and Reduction Scheme for International Aviation (CORSIA)

CORSIA, the Carbon Offsetting and Reduction Scheme for International Aviation, is an international initiative by ICAO to make airline emissions more sustainable. Starting in 2021, airlines are required to offset their growth in carbon emissions from international flights beyond 2020 levels. They do this by investing in projects that reduce or remove carbon dioxide elsewhere, such as renewable energy or reforestation. The goal is to stabilize aviation’s climate impact, encouraging airlines to reduce emissions over time while supporting global efforts to combat climate change.
