Iñupiat language

The Iñupiat language is an indigenous North Alaskan language spoken by the Iñupiat people. It belongs to the Eskimo-Aleut language family and features a complex system of verbs, suffixes, and sounds unique to Arctic languages. Traditionally used for daily communication, storytelling, and cultural practices, Iñupiat is vital for preserving community identity and knowledge of the land and environment. While efforts are underway to revitalize and maintain the language, it faces challenges from the dominance of English. The language reflects the rich cultural heritage and deep connection of the Iñupiat people to their Arctic homeland.
