Hypovolemic Shock
Hypovolemic shock occurs when the body loses a significant amount of blood or fluids, reducing the amount of blood available to circulate. This drop in blood volume causes a decrease in oxygen and nutrients reaching organs, which can impair their function. Common causes include severe bleeding, dehydration from vomiting or diarrhea, or burns. Symptoms may include rapid heartbeat, low blood pressure, cold or clammy skin, and confusion. It requires immediate medical attention to restore blood volume through fluids or blood transfusions and prevent organ failure. Prompt treatment is critical to improve outcomes and survival.
