Hypogonadotropic Hypogonadism
Hypogonadotropic hypogonadism is a medical condition where the body doesn't produce enough sex hormones due to a problem in the hypothalamus or pituitary gland, which are parts of the brain that regulate hormone production. This leads to reduced function of the testes in men and ovaries in women, resulting in low testosterone or estrogen levels. Symptoms can include delayed puberty, reduced sexual function, and fertility issues. Treatment often involves hormone replacement therapy to help restore normal hormone levels and alleviate symptoms. This condition can be caused by genetic factors, certain illnesses, or traumatic injuries.
