Hyperphosphatemia
Hyperphosphatemia is a condition where there is too much phosphate, a mineral, in the blood. Phosphate is important for healthy bones, teeth, and energy production. Normally, your kidneys help regulate phosphate levels by removing excess through urine. When they don’t work well or if your body has other issues like increased cell breakdown or hormone imbalances, phosphate can build up. High phosphate levels can cause problems like blood vessel calcification, leading to heart issues, or weaken bones. It’s often seen in people with chronic kidney disease or other health conditions that affect mineral balance.
