Hypercortisolism

Hypercortisolism, often referred to as Cushing’s syndrome, occurs when the body produces too much cortisol, a hormone that helps regulate various functions, including metabolism and stress response. This condition can be caused by factors such as tumors on the adrenal glands or pituitary gland, or prolonged use of corticosteroid medications. Symptoms may include rapid weight gain, particularly around the abdomen and face, high blood pressure, mood swings, and thicker skin. Early diagnosis and treatment are important to managing the condition and preventing serious health issues.
