Hyper-IgM Syndrome
Hyper-IgM Syndrome is a rare immune disorder where the body produces normal or high levels of a type of antibody called IgM, but very low levels of other important antibodies needed to fight infections. This occurs because of a problem with immune cells called B cells, which cannot "switch" to making different antibody types. As a result, individuals are more vulnerable to bacterial, viral, and fungal infections. It is often inherited and requires medical management, including antibiotics and sometimes immune therapies, to help prevent and treat infections.
