Hype Cycle

The Hype Cycle is a graphical framework that shows how new technologies are adopted over time. It tracks five key stages: the initial excitement and high expectations (Peak of Inflated Expectations), a period of disillusionment when benefits aren’t clear (Trough of Disillusionment), gradual improvements and real-world applications (Plateau of Productivity). It helps businesses and individuals understand when a technology is gaining momentum and when it’s mature enough for reliable use, preventing overinvestment during hype and encouraging adoption when the technology aligns with practical needs.
