Hydronephrosis

Hydronephrosis is a condition where the kidneys become swollen due to a buildup of urine. Normally, urine flows from the kidneys to the bladder through tubes called ureters. If there’s an obstruction, narrowing, or other problem blocking this flow, urine can accumulate, causing the kidney to swell. This swelling can lead to discomfort, infection, or damage if untreated. Causes may include kidney stones, tumors, or enlarged prostate. Treatment depends on the cause and may involve medication, procedures to remove blockages, or surgery to restore normal urine flow, helping protect kidney function.
