Hydroid

Hydroids are small, aquatic animals related to jellyfish and corals, belonging to the class Hydrozoa. They typically form colonies composed of tiny, specialized polyps that work together to feed, grow, and reproduce. These colonies often resemble delicate, branching structures made of transparent or colorful tissue. Hydroids can be found attached to underwater surfaces like rocks, shells, or man-made objects. They capture tiny plankton and organic particles using specialized tentacles. Despite their fragile appearance, hydroids play an important role in marine ecosystems by contributing to biodiversity and providing habitat for other small aquatic creatures.
