Hybrid crop varieties

Hybrid crop varieties are plants developed by crossing two different parent plants to produce a new plant with desirable traits, such as higher yield, better disease resistance, or improved stress tolerance. This deliberate breeding combines the strengths of both parents, resulting in a crop that performs better than either parent alone. Farmers often prefer hybrids because they can produce more abundant and reliable harvests. However, hybrid seeds usually do not produce true-to-type plants if saved for planting again, so farmers buy new hybrid seeds each season.
