Hussar tactics
Hussar tactics refer to the flexible and aggressive strategies used by light cavalry units known as hussars, originating in Eastern Europe. They specialized in rapid, mobile warfare—scouting ahead, launching swift raids, and executing flanking maneuvers to surprise and disorient the enemy. Their tactics emphasized speed, agility, and adaptability, allowing them to exploit weaknesses, pursue retreating foes, and gather intelligence. Hussars often fought in loose formations, enabling quick movement and reaction, which made them effective for reconnaissance, harassment, and disrupting larger, more cumbersome enemy formations.
