Hurrian
Hurrian was the language spoken by the Hurrian people who lived in the ancient Near East, especially in regions like northern Mesopotamia and modern-day Syria, around 2000–1000 BCE. It is a unique language with no direct relation to the more widely known Semitic or Indo-European languages, and it is part of the Hurro-Urartian language family. Hurrian is especially significant for its evidence in ancient texts, including myths, treaties, and religious hymns, notably the Hittite-Hurrian texts. Our understanding of Hurrian comes from cuneiform inscriptions and tablets, providing valuable insights into the culture and history of the ancient Near East.
